Myths and Reality of CBD

BACKGROUND:

The consumption of products with CBD is on the rise, and it is a reality. Unfortunately, advertising often distorts the objective elements, due to its emphasis on the sales process.

The WHO and the European Union have given their contribution by clarifying certain scientific aspects of the benefits of using cannabinoids.

In this article, we are going to try to clarify some myths and confirm some facts about CBD..

DEVELOPMENT:

Are hemp and marijuana the same?
False - They both belong to the same family, however due to their genetic makeup and unique growth habits, we can conclude that they are two different plants. The term hemp is associated with the subspecies 'cannabis sativa sativa' and has no psychotropic effects; while marijuana is related to the 'cannabis sativa indica' which does produce a high content of TCH (psychoactive cannabinoid molecule).

Myths about CBD

Can CBD Be Extracted from Both Hemp and Marijuana?
True - The extraction process can isolate CBD from both raw materials. The difference in cost is considerable, for this reason the industrial extraction of CBD does not use marijuana.

Is CBD a Drug?
False – CBD does not contain any psychoactive ingredients. What's more, cannabidiol given to patients with heroin addiction, reduced their anxiety levels and eased withdrawal symptoms.

Are hemp oil and CBD or cannabidiol the same?
False - Hemp oil from the seeds of the cannabis sativa plant has nothing to do with the CBD molecule from the trichomes of the plant. In fact, they are different INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients or INCI) ingredients. The term CBD usually refers to the white CBD crystal powder that the cannabidiol molecule contains for the most part. Hemp oil, on the other hand, contains CBD in small proportions in addition to other cannabinodes

Is isolate CBD the best form of medical cannabis?
False - The need to isolate cannabinoids does not mean that isolated or synthetic cannabinoids are the best therapeutic solution. There is empirical evidence that ingesting cannabis in its natural form can provide a greater range of therapeutic benefits than in the form of isolated cannabinoids.

Is CBD a food supplement?

This feature opens up a promising horizon when it comes to combating negative proteins that damage the functions of the pancreas, peripheral blockade of the CB1 receptor and the activation of CB2, GPR55 or GPR119. At the same time, other research has also shown that CBD can help to minimize insulin resistance.

Is CBD a cure for everything from insomnia to epilepsy?
False - CBD is not the panacea that will save the world. The effect of CBD is personal and individual, just like all other products applied to improve the quality of life.

False - By definition, CBD is the result of an extraction from a biological component, hemp, which is a plant. Natural hemp has a very strong characteristic flavor, in addition to the chlorophyll flavor that may have been combined during the treatment of the plant. Having said the above, there are some extraction procedures that nullify the taste. However, it is better to be well informed and know what other elements have been lost in the process, besides taste.

Do all CBD products contain the same percentages of cannabinoids?
